A young team like the Minnesota Timberwolves is bound to have its rough up and down stretches, but Monday night wasn’t one of them. The T’Wolves dismantled the Hawks behind Karl-Anthony Towns‘s 22 points and 11 rebounds going 8 for 8 from the field and 3 for 3 behind the arc.Zach Lavine poured in six 3-pointers finishing with 21 and Andrew Wiggins also scored 21 on 4 for 6 from the 3-point line.Minnesota hit a season-high 15 3s and led by as many as 29 at one point.

“We can all go out there and have the kind of nights where we light up the NBA,” Towns said.

Ricky Rubio is running the offense tremendously lately though he struggled with his shot tonight only scoring 3 points. He finished with 10 assists and zero turnovers for Minnesota.Rubio has played 67 minutes, 40 seconds since he last had a turnover. He has 22 assists in that span.

“I’m controlling the tempo of the game and I’m not making mistakes on offense,” Rubio said. “I’m feeling good.”

The Atlanta Hawks welcomed back Dwight Howard who returned from a back injury, scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds but Atlanta turned the ball over 19 times, leading to 22 points for Minnesota.

Atlanta has beaten some very good teams this year in Cleveland, Houston, and Toronto but has also dropped losses to Orlando, Phoenix and Lakers twice.

“It’s for sure frustrating, but we’ve got to find a way,” Hawks point guard Dennis Schroder said. “It’s still early, but we need to figure it out now. We can’t keep talking about it. We’ve got to change something and we don’t. So, we’ve got to be on the same page and try to get more wins.”

The Hawks head back home for a game against the Knicks Wednesday night, while Denver hosts Minnesota Wednesday as well.
